(Translated by Google) Tonkatsu Nagi is a restaurant that started as a pop-up shop specializing in pork fillet cutlets and has now become a full-fledged restaurant specializing in tonkatsu made with premium pork.
The owner, who previously worked at the long-established Katsukichi, fries the tonkatsu slowly at a low temperature and uses specially made breadcrumbs to create a crispy coating.
The fillet is mainly made from "Iwachu Pork" from Iwate Prefecture, and the loin and other cuts are made from aged premium pork. On this day, the rib loin and belly were made from "Awayuki Pork".
I visited at lunchtime on this day.
"Special Ribeye x "Fillet Core"
The fillet core is wonderfully tender, smooth, and rich in flavor, and combined with the light and crispy batter, it makes for an outstanding fillet cutlet.
The rib loin core has a good balance of fat, and while the meat is delicious, the sweetness of the fat also blends in nicely.
The pork belly is deep-fried at a high temperature and served on a separate plate, but the fat is light and not greasy, making it easy to eat.

(Translated by Google) Absolutely delicious
Maybe the best I've ever had.
百名店に選出されたら、予約困難になっちゃうだろうなと思います(^_-)-☆ (Translated by Google) Lunch that day was in Shibuya.
I got off at JR Shibuya Station, exited through the Hachiko exit, and proceeded down Shibuya Center Street, then Udagawa Street, and down a narrow street. On the second floor of a multi-tenant building, I found my destination for the day: Tonkatsu Nagi.
The restaurant's description reads:
"A hidden gem of a restaurant in Shibuya with jazz music playing, offering a captivating tonkatsu experience.
Located slightly away from the hustle and bustle of Shibuya, our restaurant boasts a calm atmosphere reminiscent of a hidden villa.
We use Iwate Prefecture's Iwachu pork for our fillet cutlets, and a daily changing premium pork that has been aged for two weeks in a traditional dry-batch process for our loin cutlets. By frying each cut in two different copper pots, we achieve a crispy, light, and moist texture.
Enjoy the live experience of watching the food being prepared. Perfect for business meetings, dinners, and anniversaries. Private reservations available."
I made a reservation through Tabelog's reservation service and was greeted by the handsome owner, Hirokazu Ishihara, and his staff, and seated at one of the counter seats in the restaurant.
While enjoying a draft beer (900 yen including tax), I ordered the following:
Special Menu: Limited to 6 servings per day, Premium Ribeye and Tenderloin Assortment Set Meal, 6,000 yen including tax.
This is a special set meal featuring carefully selected ribeye and tenderloin.
Enjoy the richness and tenderness of both cuts.
Tenderloin Cutlet (Tenderloin Core): This is a super-premium cut, referring to the thickest and central part of the rare tenderloin, of which only a few hundred grams to 1 kg can be obtained from one pig.
Loin Cutlet (Ribeye Core): Only the rare central "ribeye core" of the loin is used.
The moist texture and elegant sweetness of the fat spread throughout your mouth. This is a piece that best embodies the essence of tonkatsu. "That's what they said."
While watching their meticulous work, after about 30 minutes, the set arrived: two kinds of cutlets, plus a separate plate of pork belly cutlet, rice, and red miso soup!
First, I enjoyed the vegetables, which were all-you-can-eat, with dressing – a vegetable-first approach! (*´ω`*)
The pork tenderloin was from Iwate Prefecture's Iwachu pork. Lightly seasoned with salt, the finely textured, tender meat, encased in a light batter, released a burst of flavor with every bite, filling me with pure bliss!
The ribeye was from Gunma Prefecture's Maru pork. Again, lightly seasoned with salt, the light batter and the elegant sweetness of the fat that spread in my mouth made me feel so happy! (=`(∞)´=)ブWow!
Next up was the pork cutlet, fried at a high temperature. The crispy exterior and juicy, flavorful meat juices made the rice go down so easily! (*゚∀゚)ノ€[rice]
After that, I enjoyed changing the flavor with the sauce, mustard, and homemade green chili miso.
The nameko mushroom red miso soup had a gentle yet deep flavor that warmed me to the core. (*´з`)
The rice, cooked in a pot, was also delicious. I had seconds of the cabbage, and the bean sprout namul and kelp tsukudani served alongside it were a nice palate cleanser. o(*⌒―⌒*)o
If this place is selected as one of the top 100 restaurants, I think it will become incredibly difficult to get a reservation! (^_-)-☆

I had the best katsu I’ve ever tasted at this restaurant. It’s a small place on the second floor of a side street in Shibuya, with a cozy atmosphere and excellent service. The katsu was perfectly fried crispy on the outside, incredibly juicy and tender on the inside, and absolutely delicious. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. If you’re visiting Shibuya and looking for an outstanding food experience, I highly, highly recommend this place. It was one of the best meals I had in Tokyo!

(Translated by Google) Tonkatsu Nagi is a restaurant quietly located in the back of Shibuya.
To get there, take the outside staircase in front of the brown building, and you'll find the restaurant on the second floor, in the back left corner.
The building is old, but the interior is very stylish and tastefully decorated.
A handsome owner will greet you.
The pork fillet cutlet, lightly fried in corn oil with a white batter, is incredibly juicy and you could eat it endlessly!
The chef's ability to control the frying temperature to this extent is astonishing; there are probably very few chefs who can do that.
As someone who loves fatty meat, I also ordered the loin cutlet, and while I enjoyed the melting fat, it was still lightly prepared, so it didn't upset my stomach.
I'm getting to the age where fatty food is getting a bit much, but I could probably come here every day (lol).
This was my third visit, and this time I had a specially ordered course meal!
The fried dishes continued with fried vegetables, fried shrimp, fillet, and loin, but they were all incredibly light! Delicious! And incredibly, they're currently testing it, but it seems they might be able to offer a tonkatsu course paired with wine.
I was given a special opportunity to taste one of the tested combinations, and I was speechless...
The collaboration of the supreme tonkatsu with wine, whose temperature during transport was meticulously controlled, was amazing.
This looks like it's going to be a fantastic restaurant, perfect for meals with friends, business dinners, or even a casual solo visit for a second round of drinks.
I'll definitely be back.
Thank you for the delicious meal!

I've loved their tenderloin cutlets ever since I discovered them through their fillet cutlet sandwich, and I thoroughly enjoyed a course meal centered around that cutlet. I'm happy that they're now open not only for lunch but also for dinner with drinks.
Incidentally, the famous katsudon restaurant "Zuicho," known for its katsudon that isn't simmered, is located on the first floor of the same building. With Tonkatsu Nagi now open on the second floor, it's almost like a tonkatsu building in Okushibu. Should I go bar-hopping? (laughs)

(Translated by Google) The tonkatsu had a very light batter, resulting in an elegant dish that didn't feel heavy with oil. The first bite offered the fragrant crispness of the batter, followed by the tenderness and savory flavor of the meat spreading slowly. The loin had a rich, sweet fat without being greasy, and the fillet was surprisingly tender, giving the impression that the deliciousness of the meat itself had been carefully brought out. The frying was also perfect, making it enjoyable to eat lightly until the very last bite. There was also a live cooking experience as the food was prepared right in front of us, allowing us to appreciate the restaurant's dedication to its cuisine. Not only the tonkatsu, but also the rice and side dishes showed care and attention to detail, making for a highly satisfying meal overall.

It's hard to spot from the main street, but once you find it, you'll discover a truly excellent restaurant.
The fillet cutlet uses pork from Iwate Prefecture, and the cross-section has a beautiful rosy color. It's moist and tender, yet substantial and satisfying. The batter isn't greasy; it's light and refreshing, making it easy to finish despite the generous portion.
What was interesting was the condiment selection. In addition to the standard mustard, they offer homemade green chili miso, which provides a refreshing, slightly spicy accent. It's a different kind of spiciness than the mustard, allowing you to enjoy a single cutlet in multiple ways.
With its relaxed atmosphere, it's the perfect place for those who want to savor their tonkatsu and enjoy a drink to the fullest. If you're looking for authentic fillet cutlets in Shibuya, this is definitely the place.

I'd love to visit again with various friends and enjoy the best tonkatsu in this wonderful setting!

It doesn't have the appearance of a high-end restaurant. Rather, it blends naturally into the Shibuya neighborhood. However, the quality of its dishes easily surpasses many high-end establishments.
Upon entering, a faint aroma of authentic spices wafts through the air. "I thought this was a tonkatsu (pork cutlet) restaurant?" I momentarily doubted my own senses.
Standing in the kitchen is a chef with a sharp, determined face. His keen gaze and efficient movements convey the dedication he's shown to his craft over nearly 20 years. Some might even find themselves watching the chef before the food.
The tonkatsu served is cooked to perfection, bringing out the sweetness and umami of the meat. Despite its thickness, it's surprisingly tender, and the batter is light. Even though it's fried, it doesn't feel heavy; you can purely enjoy the deliciousness of the pork.
I learned that they also focus on maintaining quality by directly sourcing their meat from producers.
This is a restaurant I would especially recommend to those who think "tonkatsu is heavy." Watching the refreshing and sharp chef strangely makes you feel healthy too. Both the food and the people are charming.

■Premium Loin Cutlet x Premium Fillet Cutlet Assortment Set Meal: 3500 yen
——————————
Walking along, relying on Google Maps,
"Wait, is this the place of Zuicho, famous for its katsudon that doesn't have a lid?"
"Huh? Closed." But then I realized it was on the second floor of the same building.
As usual, the line at Zuicho was full of foreigners.
A new restaurant where the fillet cutlet is supposedly extremely delicious.
But for indecisive customers like me who also want to eat loin cutlet,
a mixed assortment is available.
30 minutes after being seated.
It finally arrived.
They must be frying it in low-temperature oil.
The fillet cutlet is a masterpiece, made with Iwachu pork.
This fillet cutlet is one of the most memorable in my history of deliciousness.
Definitely top class.
If it's this delicious, I'd even be happy with the pork fillet cutlet set meal.
It's not bland at all,
and of course, not greasy,
and just bursting with flavor.
I'm blown away.
If the pork fillet cutlet is this good, there's no way the loin cutlet would be bad.
It's just as good as the fillet, if not better.
The rice is cooked in a pot.

Absolutely fantastic tonkatsu and one of the best meals I had in Tokyo. The pork was incredibly juicy and tender, while the coating was light, crispy, and not greasy at all. So good that we came back again on our trip. Ordered the hire, curry katsu, shrimp katsu and dumplings. All were delicious.
Feel free to ask chef for wine recommendations. He pulled out an orange wine from his secret stash when we asked him.
One thing worth mentioning: The restaurant is on Level 2, not Level 5. We initially went up to the wrong floor before realizing it was actually on the second level.
P.s - to the ladies, chef is a handsome dude.

(Translated by Google) I had visited Tonkatsu Nagi when they were operating out of a shared space, and when I heard they had opened a permanent store in Udagawa-cho, I went there right away.
(laughs)

(Translated by Google) It was fantastic.
I've never had pork fillet cutlet that was so juicy and perfectly tender.
It was delicious with any of the condiments: salt, Worcestershire sauce, green chili miso, and mustard.
The service at the counter and other areas was also very attentive and detailed.
I had the 3500 yen tonkatsu and fillet cutlet combination, but it seems there's also a 6000 yen set meal with a limited daily quantity. I'd like to try that someday.

The restaurant is located on the 1st floor (2F according to the signs on the street).
At the end of the corridor on the left is a small restaurant with 8 seats, all at the counter.
The dishes are delicious, with a sensational Tonkatsu, highly recommended.
Despite the few reviews, this is a place away from the chaos of Shibuya, where I'll definitely return.

(Translated by Google) This hidden gem of a tonkatsu (pork cutlet) restaurant is located in a building in Udagawa-cho, Shibuya.

Thank you for the delicious meal! 😋

(Translated by Google) There are few restaurants I'd rather keep secret than this one.

Google

Nice and calm atmosphere with 10 seats upstairs. The food is incredible for a nice space to go. We took 2 adults and 2 kids in here and the guys cooking looked after us so well.
Definitely recommend this place!

Food is good very good meat however the service was very slow and somehow I thought that the rice portions of local people where bigger then then ones of foreigners

Quaint 9 seater restaurant with suuuuper good Tonkatsu cooked right in front of you. The pork was so soft and juicy and just the right crunch of the batter. Def a must try if youre craving for Tonkatsu 💗
