Nagi's tonkatsu is incredibly delicious...!
The tenderloin cutlet is exceptionally tasty and tender!
The loin cutlet has a deep, rich flavor!
The shrimp cutlet pairs perfectly with the special tartar sauce!
The calm owner, the atmosphere of the restaurant, and the attention to detail in the interior design all contribute to creating a truly memorable dining experience!

There are few restaurants I'd rather keep secret than this one.
It doesn't have the appearance of a high-end restaurant. Rather, it blends naturally into the Shibuya neighborhood. However, the quality of its dishes easily surpasses many high-end establishments.
Upon entering, a faint aroma of authentic spices wafts through the air. "I thought this was a tonkatsu (pork cutlet) restaurant?" I momentarily doubted my own senses.
Standing in the kitchen is a chef with a sharp, determined face. His keen gaze and efficient movements convey the dedication he's shown to his craft over nearly 20 years. Some might even find themselves watching the chef before the food.
The tonkatsu served is cooked to perfection, bringing out the sweetness and umami of the meat. Despite its thickness, it's surprisingly tender, and the batter is light. Even though it's fried, it doesn't feel heavy; you can purely enjoy the deliciousness of the pork.
I learned that they also focus on maintaining quality by directly sourcing their meat from producers.
This is a restaurant I would especially recommend to those who think "tonkatsu is heavy." Watching the refreshing and sharp chef strangely makes you feel healthy too. Both the food and the people are charming.

Absolutely fantastic tonkatsu and one of the best meals I had in Tokyo. The pork was incredibly juicy and tender, while the coating was light, crispy, and not greasy at all. So good that we came back again on our trip. Ordered the hire, curry katsu, shrimp katsu and dumplings. All were delicious.
Feel free to ask chef for wine recommendations. He pulled out an orange wine from his secret stash when we asked him.

The batter is very light, thin, and fluffy, yet it has a noticeable presence. More than other tonkatsu restaurants, they value the tenderness and flavor of the meat and shrimp, and you can subtly taste the batter at the beginning and end. The fillet and loin are also incredibly tender and flavorful. The plump, condensed shrimp are also exquisite. It's also nice to be able to watch the batter being applied and the food being fried right in front of you at close range. stumbled upon this place while in search for dinner and ended up being our favorite meal of the trip. The bar is small and intimate and the tonkatsu is one of the most incredible bites you will have! The curry was our favorite. The chef is so kind - would recommend this place to anyone!
this place is absolutely worth it. Incredible tonkatsu, excellent experience, very fair pricing, and quality that easily exceeds expectations. It’s a very small shop, probably only around 8 to 10 seats, which makes the whole experience feel intimate and special. We visited during lunch, and it was surprisingly calm with only about four guests at the time, making it the perfect setting to truly appreciate what was happening behind the counter.
What made this place unforgettable was watching the chef work. He was genuinely captivating. From selecting the cut, trimming and slicing the pork, preparing each ingredient, coating, seasoning, controlling the oil temperature, frying, resting, slicing, and plating — he handled nearly everything himself with incredible precision. Every movement felt deliberate, polished, and almost artistic. Sitting at the counter and watching that level of craftsmanship alone was worth the visit. The assistant and waitress were also warm and efficient, adding to the charm of this small but highly impressive team.
We ordered both the sirloin and pork fillet, which was the perfect way to enjoy the differences between the two cuts. Both were excellent. The rice was particularly impressive, perfectly cooked and memorable on its own. The pickles were deeply flavorful, and even the salad dressing stood out. We also tried the sandwich, initially expecting something small or light, but it turned out to be surprisingly satisfying, with beautifully thick pork cut to just the right balance.
As a traveler from Sydney, Australia, and fairly familiar with Tokyo, I am glad we found this hidden gem and it is worth the trip. We originally planned to come back one more time before leaving Tokyo, but unfortunately it was already fully booked. Thankfully, there are multiple booking platforms available, so next time I’ll definitely reserve ahead.

Putting aside the unnecessary details, this place is truly delicious. The prices are surprisingly reasonable, yet the quality exceeds expectations. It's a small restaurant, mainly counter seating with about 8-10 seats. We visited during lunchtime, and the atmosphere was very calm; there were only about four other customers. It was quiet, and we enjoyed watching the chef at work right in front of us, as if we had a prime seat.
What impressed us most was that the chef handled almost everything perfectly by himself. From cutting the meat and selecting the cuts, to meticulous preparation, coating, balancing salt and seasonings, controlling the oil temperature, timing the frying, resting the meat, and finally the last cut and plating, the entire process was like a craftsman's performance. The movements were efficient, precise, and beautiful. Just sitting at the counter and watching the process is worthwhile. The assistant and waitress were also very pleasant, and the whole restaurant had a very comfortable atmosphere.
We ordered a set that allowed us to enjoy both sirloin and tenderloin, and it was wonderful to be able to clearly taste the unique characteristics of each cut. The rice was also extremely delicious, cooked to perfection. The pickles were thoroughly flavored, and the salad dressing was excellent. The katsu sandwich I ordered as an extra initially seemed small, but it was actually quite satisfying, and the thickness of the meat was absolutely perfect.
As a traveler from Sydney who's somewhat familiar with Tokyo, I can say this tonkatsu is definitely worth the trip. I wanted to come back before leaving Tokyo, but unfortunately, it was fully booked. However, there are several platforms where you can make reservations, so next time I'll definitely book in advance and revisit.

I'd been curious about this place on Instagram for a while, but I finally got to visit after they opened a physical store, making a reservation through Tabelog for Saturday lunch.
The location is in what you could call the "Okushibu" area, a short walk from the station, on the second floor of the building that also houses Zuicho, a katsudon restaurant famous for its katsudon that doesn't have a lid. There are only counter seats, but it's fun to watch them cut the meat, coat it in batter, and fry it right in front of you.
I ordered the pork fillet cutlet set meal (180g). The slightly pink meat was tender and incredibly juicy. Eating it with salt and real wasabi really brought out the flavor of the meat. The rice cooked in a traditional iron pot and the red miso soup were also delicious. I have a feeling this place will become very popular…
Next time, I want to try the katsu curry.

This was my first experience with authentic tonkatsu. Everything was exceptional and completely redefined my understanding of this dish. As with many places in Japan, this was a quaint, yet upscale, chef’s table-type experience. They do have an English menu, which was helpful, as I speak/can read very little Japanese. The staff were very helpful and made excellent recommendations. Without a doubt, this was an exceptional meal that rivals the Michelin sushi dinner I had the night before. I would strongly recommend this restaurant.

The staff were very helpful and made excellent recommendations. Without a doubt, this was an exceptional meal that rivals the Michelin sushi dinner I had the night before. I would strongly recommend this restaurant.

The best pork tonkatsu I have ever had in my life. I ate the sandwich and my lady had the premium filet, both meals were perfectly portioned and the pork was delicious and tender. The service was exceptional, the ambience was relaxing, and the food was superb. Make the time to find this place. Beyond worth it.
